“Rhythm’n'Booze” is an excellent series of white-label mashup 7″ and 12″ vinyl only releases counting five volumes so far of mostly funk, disco, hip-hop and reggae music with some other genres mixed in as well, most of them were created by someone calling themselves Mr Blennd, please read on for a selection of the best tracks:
- Volume 5 – Recommended track (download link): Mr Blennd – “Jaco run this” (7.2MB mp3) – Jazz-funk/hip-hop feat. Jaco Pastorious and Missy Elliot.
- Volume 3 – Recommended track: El Jay -”Bust in the House” – Go-go/hip-hop feat. Chuck Brown and Jurrasic 5.
- Volume 2 – Recommended track: Mr Blennd – “Busta Brown” – Disco/hip-hop feat. Jocelyn Brown and Busta Rhymes.
- Volume 1 – Recommended track: El Jay – “Random House Party” – Funk/hip-hop feat. Fred Wesley and Lady Sovereign.
Getting hold of any of these is not easy anymore, most are probably out of print, but if you like the tracks, I’m sure you can find them somewhere else (I’ll leave it as an exercise for the reader…).
